 Islay Volunteer Development Project

The Islay Volunteer Development Project is a pilot scheme based in the Mactaggart Leisure Centre. It is jointly funded for two years by the Voluntary Action Fund and the Argyll & the Islands LEADER Programme and aims to work with various local organisations to identify, recruit, train, and support volunteers in our community.

The project has initially been set up in consultation with Re-JIG, IDEAs, Bridgend Community Garden, and the Islay & Jura CVS with the aim of increasing the number of volunteers active in various organisations on the islands. As the project develops it will hopefully involve more local organisation as partners and help mentor volunteers in a wider range of roles. The project will also focus on recruiting particular groups in society that are currently underrepresented in volunteering such as young, unemployed, or disabled people, and those on low incomes.
